DOJ releases Epstein files to influencers first
The Trump administration has released files related to Jeffrey Epstein to a select group of right-wing influencers before making them public, despite Attorney General Pam Bondi's pledge of transparency. Influencers like Rogan OHandley, Mike Cernovich, Jack Posobiec, and Chaya Raichik were seen holding binders labeled "The Epstein Files" shortly after Bondi's statement. The Justice Department has not yet released the documents to the general public, and it remains unclear if the information is new or previously disclosed. This selective release has drawn criticism from various figures, including Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, chairwoman of the House Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets, who expressed disappointment that her task force was not involved and that the files might only contain Epstein's phonebook. Conservative activist Laura Loomer and left-wing commentator Ed Krassenstein also voiced outrage over the perceived theatrics and lack of full public disclosure. Epstein, who died in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges, has been the subject of intense public interest due to his alleged crimes and connections to high-profile individuals. Thousands of pages of records related to his case have been released over time through various legal processes. Bondi has previously accused the FBI of withholding thousands of pages of Epstein files. Senator Marsha Blackburn suggested this initial release might be "Phase one" of an information rollout.
