US Institute of Peace says DOGE ‘broke’ into its building
The United States Institute of Peace (USIP) reported that members of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) "broke into" its headquarters on Monday. The former CEO of USIP, George Moose, stated that DOGE entered the building after several unsuccessful attempts. This incident occurred shortly after the Trump administration fired most of USIP's board and appointed a new head. The three remaining board members had previously fired Moose. USIP was previously targeted in an executive order alongside other foundations and trusts. DOGE's alleged break-in followed a failed attempt three days prior, where DOGE representatives, accompanied by FBI agents, were denied entry by USIP's counsel. Despite the incident, USIP expressed commitment to cooperation with the Trump Administration and its mission to prevent violent conflicts and broker peace deals abroad. USIP's website content was reportedly altered after President Trump's election to align with his rhetoric. DOGE is described as a group founded to support U.S. interests by preventing violent conflicts and brokering peace deals internationally.
