Judge allows one DOGE employee access to Treasury data

A New York federal judge has permitted one employee from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to access the Treasury Department's payment system. Judge Jeannette A. Vargas ruled that Ryan Wunderly can access the system after completing required training and submitting a financial disclosure report. This decision reverses a previous ban on all DOGE employees accessing Treasury data, which was put in place due to concerns about the rushed and ad hoc manner in which two DOGE employees were initially granted access. The judge expressed that the proposed mitigation procedures, training, and vetting are now adequate to address her previous concerns about the disclosure of confidential financial information. DOGE aims to use this access to reduce the size of the federal government and combat wasteful spending of taxpayer money.
