Biden diagnosed with aggressive form of prostate cancer
Former President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer, his office announced. The 82-year-old discovered a nodule on his prostate after experiencing urinary symptoms, leading to a diagnosis of hormone-sensitive prostate cancer that has spread to the bone. While this indicates a more aggressive form of the disease, with a Gleason score of 9, his office stated it is manageable. Biden and his family are currently considering treatment options. He shared a personal message on X, expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support. Political figures, including former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, have offered well wishes for his recovery. Former President Barack Obama also conveyed his thoughts, highlighting Biden's resolve. Biden's health has been a recurring topic of public concern, particularly after a debate performance during his reelection campaign. He had a basal cell carcinoma removed in February 2023 and a potentially pre-cancerous polyp in November 2021. Biden has also been a vocal advocate for cancer research, championing the "Cancer Moonshot" initiative, inspired by the loss of his son Beau to brain cancer in 2015.
