Judge blocks Trump admin from removing research papers over trans references

A federal judge has blocked the Trump administration from removing medical research articles from a government website due to their references to transgender people. President Trump's executive order in January mandated the government to recognize only male and female genders and remove content promoting gender ideology. Following this order, articles on the government's Patient Safety Network were removed. Two Harvard Medical School doctors argued this removal violated their First Amendment rights. Judge Leo Sorokin of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts granted a preliminary injunction, ordering the restoration of the doctors' articles and other content removed for similar reasons. The judge indicated that the plaintiffs are likely to succeed in proving viewpoint discrimination in violation of the First Amendment. This ruling is one of several recent decisions in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts that have gone against the Trump administration, including orders blocking Trump's efforts to prevent Harvard University from admitting foreign students and compelling the administration to facilitate the return of a deported Guatemalan national.
