Musk appears to endorse Trump impeachment as social media spat spirals
Elon Musk has seemingly endorsed the impeachment of President Donald Trump, suggesting Vice President JD Vance as a replacement. This action escalates a public feud between Musk and Trump, which began over Trump's "big, beautiful spending and tax bill." Musk criticized the bill as a "disgusting abomination" for its potential to increase the federal deficit. Trump expressed disappointment, citing Musk's opposition to the bill and his desire for a specific individual to run NASA. Musk countered, claiming Trump wouldn't have won the election without his support and accusing the president of ingratitude. The dispute also involves EV mandates, with Trump suggesting he might revoke Musk's federal contracts. Despite Musk's apparent support for impeachment, there is little appetite in Congress, particularly among Democrats, to pursue such an effort due to a lack of Republican support. Representative Shri Thanedar, who previously introduced impeachment articles against Trump, agrees with Musk on defeating the tax bill and impeaching the president, but does not expect Musk's involvement to sway Republicans.
