At least five killed in Michigan church attack, many injured

At least five people, including the gunman, were killed in an attack at a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan. The gunman, identified as 40-year-old Marine Corps veteran Thomas Jacob Sanford, rammed his pickup truck into the building, began shooting, and then set it on fire. First responders and individuals inside the church were praised for their bravery in shielding children. Local law enforcement arrived within 30 seconds, and the attacker was killed by officers eight minutes after the incident began. Firefighters worked for hours to extinguish the blaze, and search efforts continued for additional victims. The FBI is leading the investigation into this act of targeted violence, though no motive has been established. Suspected explosive devices and a fire accelerant were found at the scene. President Trump addressed the attack, suggesting it was a targeted attack on Christians in the United States.
