Scientific studies calculate climate change as health danger, while Trump calls it a ‘scam’

The Trump administration has revoked a scientific finding that declared climate change a threat to public health, a stance President Trump has referred to as a "scam." This decision, however, contradicts a substantial body of scientific evidence. Numerous studies over the past five years indicate that climate change is a documented and quantifiable harm, leading to thousands of illnesses and deaths annually. For instance, research shows a significant increase in heat-related deaths in the U.S. over the last quarter-century. A study in Nature Climate Change attributed over a third of heat deaths globally to human-caused climate change. Since the initial 2009 endangerment finding, over 29,000 peer-reviewed studies have explored the link between climate and health, with a surge in publications in recent years. Experts like Dr. Howard Frumkin emphasize that the administration's rescission is akin to denying established scientific facts. Beyond direct deaths from heat, climate change is linked to an array of health issues, including waterborne infections, mental health problems, and nutrition deficiencies. While cold-related deaths currently outnumber heat-related ones in the U.S., projections indicate a rapid rise in total mortality as global temperatures increase beyond a certain threshold, assuming no societal adaptation. The EPA's decision is seen by many scientists as a rollback of crucial regulations aimed at combating global warming.
