Trump's labor secretary resigns amid investigation into misconduct

Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer has resigned from her position amid an internal investigation into misconduct allegations. The White House confirmed her departure, stating she is moving to a private sector role and commending her service. Chavez-DeRemer is the third cabinet member to leave President Trump's second term, following Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Attorney General Pam Bondi. The investigation into Chavez-DeRemer reportedly includes complaints of an affair with a subordinate, on-the-job drinking, and misuse of taxpayer-funded travel. Her chief of staff and deputy chief of staff resigned in March, and another senior staff member was reportedly fired after an interview with the Inspector General. Additionally, Chavez-DeRemer's husband was barred from Labor Department headquarters after staff reported inappropriate touching, though investigations did not lead to charges. Chavez-DeRemer's appointment was seen as a concession to Teamsters President Sean O'Brien, who had supported her due to her backing of the PRO Act. Deputy Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling has been named acting secretary.
