A United Airlines Boeing 767-400 passenger jet struck a light pole and a truck near Newark Liberty International Airport on Sunday as it was approaching for landing. The incident, captured on dashcam video, occurred as the plane's approach passed over the New Jersey Turnpike. The truck driver sustained minor injuries and was released from the hospital. None of the 221 passengers or 10 crew members on board the flight from Venice, Italy, were injured. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an investigation into the event, classifying it as an accident due to the damage to the aircraft. The NTSB is collecting flight recorders and interviewing the crew. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated that such incidents are studied to ensure safety in air travel.
